Parking at RV is a Nuisance

It's not just students who are complaining, even security guards acknowledge the need for more parking spots. With about 2,360 spaces for roughly 7,800 students, the squeeze affects the school throughout the week but it is particularly cruel on Wednesday, according to John Trojan, vice president of Finance and Facilities.

School officials are struggling to address the disparity. As a temporary measure, they plan to turn the outside basketball courts into a provisional parking lot, adding 60 spaces. The school could add 98 more spaces by converting the outdoor tennis courts into student parking which will only be available on Wednesdays and other high-volume days, Trojan said. The Record is the online newspaper of the RVCC community, designed, produced and written by students. With a focus on RVCC news, profiles, features and opinions, we publish regularly throughout the semester. Publishing online enables us to present material in a variety of formats, including print, photo gallery, audio and video.

To put out a quality newspaper requires many student volunteers: web designers and production people, reporters, writers, photographers, videographers, and even advertising reps.

If you would like to be part of The Record club, send us an e-mail. We meet Wednesday, 4:30-8:20 p.m. in cafiteria upstairs, but you don't have to be available during that time to be a part of the team.

Got a news tip, story or upcoming event you think the RVCC community ought to know about, send us an e-mail.
