RVCC’s renovated and expanded cafeteria opened on Sept. 29, after two years of planning and four months of construction.  Since the semester began, students, faculty and staff have been eating under catering tents in the court yard.  Their only view of the new 2nd floor cafeteria was through partly covered windows jutting into the air at a surprising angle. A breeze is nice, but as the weather cools, it is good to have the cafeteria open.

“The most difficult thing was the time factor.” said Tommy Rimar, site manager of general contractor GPC, Inc.  “Four months was very tight schedule.” Rimar characterized the cafeteria as having “a decent amount of flash,” with a modern clean design.

KurtzerConflict between Israel and its 21 Arab neighboring countries has raged since the Jewish state became a nation in 1949. Lions Looking to Roar on the Diamond

As the Golden Lions baseball team gears up for the new season, Coach Matt Sommo’s goal, as it is every fall, is to “Get the kids in shape for the spring.”

While the club plays intercollegiate ball through the fall, Sommo sees the season as means to help players tune-up after a summer away from the diamond. A Day in the Life of...Reinhold Woykowski

chinaWhen I was told that Reinhold Woykowski takes care of pretty much everything at Raritan aside from classes, I knew he was the person I had to choose to follow around for a few hours to gain some insight into someone else’s life here at the college. For those of you who, like me, are new to the school, Reinhold Woykowski’s official title is “Safety and Facilities Manager”, but after spending a couple of hours as his shadow, I’ve learned that he is responsible for so much more than that. The Record is the online newspaper of the RVCC community, designed, produced and written by students. With a focus on RVCC news, profiles, features and opinions, we publish regularly throughout the semester. Publishing online enables us to present material in a variety of formats, including print, photo gallery, audio and video.

To put out a quality newspaper requires many student volunteers: web designers and production people, reporters, writers, photographers, videographers, and even advertising reps.

If you would like to be part of The Record club, send us an e-mail. We meet Wednesday, 1:30-5:20 p.m. in West 205, but you don't have to be available during that time to be a part of the team.

Got a news tip, story or upcoming event you think the RVCC community ought to know about, send us an
e-mail.
