RVCC ONE petitions U.S. officials to support vaccines

The anti-poverty and healthcare advocacy group RVCC ONE is holding a campus-wide petition drive to encourage New Jersey Senators Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez to support efforts to bring vaccines to developing countries.

Some health officials say that vaccines are the best buy in public health. They're cost-effective, provide a lifetime of protection and save millions of lives.

On Wednesday, 100 students signed a petition against proposed budget cuts in foreign aid and domestic shelters in impoverished neighborhoods.

The vaccine petitions will be available tomorrow at tables in the cafeteria and college center noon-3 p.m. The petition can also be signed on line, by clicking through this link: petition.

RVCC ONE is the Raritan Valley Community College campus chapter of ONE.org. ONE is a grassroots advocacy and campaigning organization that fights extreme poverty and preventable disease, particularly in Africa, by raising public awareness to support smart and effective policies and programs that are saving lives, helping to put kids in school and improving futures.
