Summer Skies
The Summer Triangle dominates the evening skies this season.  Saturn is Visible as well.  Join us on Friday evenings throughout the summer to learn what stars and constellations we can see, as well as hear about some current events in astronomy.

8:30 p.m. Rock Laser Concert * evening shows use the unedited, album versions of songs which may include some language not heard in radio versions.  These shows are not recommended for younger audience members.

AstronoMyths
(Saturdays, Oct 9, 16, Nov 6, 13, 20) 3 p.m.
The Autumn Skies are full of myth and science.  Learn some of the Greek mythology associated with the constellations, then look beyond the stories to discover the deep sky objects hidden within: binary star systems, star clusters, and giant galaxies.

Spooky Skies
(Saturdays, Oct 23, 30) 3 p.m. & 7 p.m.
This Halloween, come to the RVCC Planetarium to witness spine chilling tricks and treats of Spooky Skies! Spooky Skies takes viewers back to medieval Ireland to explore the roots of the Halloween holiday, then into the heavens to draw parallels between some celestial objects and famous monsters. What does a werewolf have on an inescapable Black Hole, a noxious, deadly planet like Venus or a crushing, dangerous supernova?

Laser Light 2010

Features songs that are popular in 2010 like “Fireflies,” “OMG,” and “Tik Tok.”

Fright Light

Tuesdays, July 13 - August 24
2:00 p.m. Attack of the Space Pirates (recommended for ages 6-12)
Hidden somewhere in the vast reaches of space is an alien technology so powerful that it threatens the very galaxy itself. A gang of rogue pirates will stop at nothing to find that technology and unleash its awesome power against the rest of the universe. Now, only one valiant ship stands between the pirates and their total domination of space. It’s a race against time for the Starship Intrepid as it seeks to find the alien technology first while defending itself against the attack of the space pirates!  Watch the trailer below.

    

3:00 p.m. The Little Star that Could (recommended for ages 6-12)
Join Little Star, an average yellow star, as he meets other colorful stars in our galaxy during his quest for a name and a planet to call his own.  After the story, we'll discover  some of the stars and constellations we can see in tonight's sky.

Wednesdays, July 14 - August 25

2:00 p.m. Rockin’ Rocket Ride (recommended for ages 3-8)
Put on your spacesuit and blast off into outer space!  Catchy songs teach us about the planets and moon rocks.  We’ll also discover what stars are in tonight’s sky.
3:00 p.m. Tycho to the Moon (recommended for ages 5-10)
Meet Tycho, a curious dog who wants to go to the Moon.  Blast off on an amazing ride.  Learn about the night and day, space travel, the phases of the Moon, and features of the lunar surface.  We will also take a look at tonight's sky and find some of the stars and constellations that are visible.

Thursdays, July 8 - August 26

A laser and video concert featuring songs by mr. RAY and Jane Murphy. (Recommended for ages 3-8)

Admission / General Policies

  • Admission is $6.00 per person, per show, all ages, unless otherwise noted.
  • See two programs on the same day and get $1 off the second show.
  • Try a laser concert with 3D glasses for an additional $2
  • Same night Star Show and one Laser Concert for $11.00
  • Groups of 15 or more see both for $10.00 per person
  • No one is admitted into the planetarium after a show or concert has started; by order of the Fire Marshall.
  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes before show time. Shows and Concerts must start on time.
  • General seating tickets will be held until 10 minutes before show time at the Planetarium Gift Shop.
  • Reservations do not guarantee a seat if you are late for the show or concert.
Reservations are recommended for all shows by calling the Planetarium @ 908-231-8805. 

RVCC is located between Routes 78 and 22.  Click here for directions to the College.

On campus, park in Lot #7 or #1 and proceed up the steps to the Planetarium.
